WORKSHOP FOR ACTORS - MINNEAPOLIS

Thank you for your interest in this three-hour introduction to the ideas and techniques of master voice teacher Patsy Rodenburg OBE, taught by Patsy Rodenburg Associate Willie Repoley.

Please read on for more information about the workshop and if you would like to apply, please fill out the form below so I can get to know you a little! Please visit the “teacher” section of this website to learn more about me and this work.

In short, this is the beginning of a journey towards the kind of acting that will never be replaced by A.I. — because it is thrilling. This workshop will focus on building awareness of the vital connection of body, breath, voice and speech. This work is embodied, meaning it is not learned primarily with the brain but with the body. You will be on your feet, engaging physically with the ideas and techniques presented. You will begin to identify habits that restrict your ability to connect fully with the text, your scene partners, and the audience.

You will work to deepen the breath, extend the breath, and to release the voice cleanly and fully.

You will learn how to recognize and utilize Patsy Rodenburg’s Three Circles of Energy™ that describe and define our attention towards the world and each other.

You will work towards building an ensemble, and will speak text both as individuals and as part of a group.

If you have studied acting, you are probably familiar with Patsy Rodenburg through her many wonderful books, including The Right to Speak, Speaking Shakespeare, and the Woman’s Voice. Whether or not you have read her books, this is a chance to experience her work as intended: in body, not simply in mind.

Wherever you are on your acting journey, beginner or highly trained, this work is applicable.

The cost of the workshop is $150 ($125 for Guthrie BFA students or alum). It will be held at The Guthrie Theater (Classroom 1) on Wednesday July 17th, from 5pm - 8pm. Space is limited.

Please submit the form below, and I will be in touch ASAP .
